Winifred Betty Baker was born Oct. 30, 1929 on a farm in Cedar County, six miles south of Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Herald I. Eves and Adeline (Lorenzen) Eves. She passed from this life on July 22, 2011, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI, at the age of 81. She married Robert W. Baker on Oct. 8, 1955 in Preston, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2000. Betty was a 1947 graduate of Tipton High School and chose bookkeeping as a profession during her employment years. She and her husband moved from the Quad-Cities area to Greenwood Wisconsin in 1974 to dairy farm. They moved to Nevada in 1993 and returned to Wisconsin in 1999. After her husbands death she lived in the Lindsey area and shared her life with her children and grandchildren. She loved all sports, especially NASCAR racing, fishing, and baseball. Her love of all things that grow, lead to her becoming a registered Wisconsin Master Gardener at the age of 73. She publicly confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was received into full membership of the Rochester Methodist Church on September 16, 1945. She trusted and followed her Savior all the days of her life. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, David (Kathleen) Baker, of Lindsey, WI and Christopher (Luann) Baker of Greenwood, WI; three grandchildren Eric (Christa) Baker, Ryan Baker, and Jennifer Baker; a sister Carolyn (Richard) Hinty, of Springdale, IA and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Eugene Eves. A visitation for friends and family will be held at Rembs Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00pm. A graveside service and burial will be held in Tipton, IA on July 28, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Marshfield Public Library Foundation.
