Welch
May 16, 1936 – April 28, 2026
William John Welch was born on May 16, 1936 in Neillsville, WI to William & Regina (Hemmersbach) Welch. He was called to heaven on April 28, 2026 also in Neillsville.
Bill attended school in Spencer and Marshfield. He worked at Weyerhaeuser, Boson Construction, and was later self-employed at Bill Welch Construction.
He married Beverly Sersch on May 25, 1957. They enjoyed 68 years together. They lived in Marshfield and Hewitt.
He was active in Cub and Boy Scouts and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. He was on the building committee for the new church built in 1991.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, sons Bruce and Brad of Marshfield and Brian (Shelli) of Mosinee, granddaughters Cassidy & Carissa, and great grandson Matteo.
He is further survived by his sisters in law Judy Sersch, Nancy Mathewson, and Mary Sersch, all of Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two sisters, Betty Craft and Pat Weidman.
Bill retired in 2000 and enjoyed time with his granddaughters. They went fishing, bike riding, and to the park. In 2008 he lost his beloved dog, Nia. She was his fishing and walking partner.
Some of his last words were:
“I want to go home home.”
“Jesus died for my sins.”
Bill did not want a big funeral. He will be cremated with a memorial later.
