Obituary

William “Willy” W. Dickrell, 74, Vesper, entered his next journey in the afterlife on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Willy was born June 11, 1951 to Lloyd “The Chief” and LaVern “The Goose” Dickrell at the St. Josephs’ Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1969. Proud of his time in the Navy, he enlisted in the summer of 1969 where following basic: he was stationed on the USS Bryce Canyon in San Diego and in Hawaii as a mechanic. In 1971 he returned home and continued in the Navy Reserves and worked for his dad and brothers making cheese at Dickrell Brothers in Auburndale, Wisconsin until the factory closed in May of 1976. Then he worked as a carpenter at Wood Specialities in Milladore. After that he took a position as a maintenance person at St. Michaels Hospital. In 1993 Willy accepted a position as a union carpenter in St. Cloud, Minnesota as a maintenance person at St Cloud Hospital until his retirement in 2018. Following retirement, he returned to Wisconsin to live with his son Eric and resided in Vesper, Wisconsin until the time of his death. Willy was an avid hunter, fisherman and a lover of his dogs Star, Jack and his little girl Annie. He also loved spending time at his cottage.

He is preceded in death by his father Lloyd, mother LaVern and a younger brothers Richard and James.

He is survived by his son Eric (Amanda) Dickrell of Wausau, granddaughters Mckenna Dickrell, step grandchildren Noah, Ashley, Olivia, and Ruby, and great grandchildren Jace, Braelyn, and Bella. He is further survived by his sister, Betty, brothers, Ronald, Dennis, Gary and John, and countless friends.

A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
