William J. Brandl, 79, Marshfield, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Ministry St. Josephs Hospital, Palliative Care, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Egerer officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Kyler Kaufman, Jenna Kaufman, David Hodsdon, Dusty Hodsdon, Willy Gratzek, and Herbie Andres. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time at Wesley United Methodist Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. William was born on June 7, 1932 in Marshfield, to Ignatius and Helene (Lenz) Brandl. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1951 until 1954, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. After his honorable discharge he began working at his fathers sand and gravel business, I. Brandl, Inc., and in 1972 he and his brother, Guy, purchased the business. Bill sold his share to Guy and retired in 1989. He was married to Caroline Lois Lilleberg on May 21, 1960 in Ludington, Michigan. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, fishing, and watching and listening to the Milwaukee Brewers. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Badger Aerie 624. He is survived by his wife, Caroline, and a daughter, Stacy (Chad) Kaufman of Mosinee. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kyler and Jenna Kaufman. He is further survived by two sisters and a brother, Eva Gratzek of West Allis, Janet Bremmer of Wisconsin Rapids and Guy (Janice) Brandl of Marshfield and a brother-in-law, Roy Hodsdon of Stevens Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lois Hodsdon, and a brother, Kenny Brandl.
