William "Bill" T. Tessmer, 82, Junction City, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI with family at his side.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, WI where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 54 – Marshfield following the service. The funeral will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time. Masks are required. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Junction City at a later date.
Bill was born on October 26, 1939 in Marshfield, WI to William and Patricia (Faye Clark) Tessmer. He graduated from PJ Jacobs High School, Stevens Point in 1957. Bill served in the United States Air Force for 6.5 years with honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Louise Wanta on June 25, 1966 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He always thought of other people and was an avid animal lover. Bill worked at the Nekoosa Paper Mill for 28 years and as a rural carrier in Junction City and the surrounding area for 43 years. He was also a member of the Junction City Lions Club for 30 years and the Junction City Village Board for 20 years. Bill served as the supervisor of the Water Department in Junction City and was also a volunteer firefighter for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, son, Perry (Jacki) Tessmer of Gainesville, VA, daughter, Christine (Alan) Bakke of Marshfield, WI and 3 grandchildren, Adam Tessmer, Allyson Bakke, and Philip Bakke. He is further survived by his brother, James (Kathleen) Tessmer of Junction City, sister, Sharon (Gerald) Studinski of Custer, WI, brothers-in-law, Nathan Bruce of Milton and Kenneth Tippery of Lodi, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Tessmer, sisters, Rosemarie Bruce, Judith "Judie" Bishop, Peggy Maier, and Nancy Tippery, and brothers-in-law, Conlin "Connie" Maier and David Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Humane Society of Portage County or Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS).
