Wesley was born on October 24, 1929 in Marshfield, to John and Gertrude (Schedler) Sydow. He attended country school before transferring to St. John's Catholic School through the 10th grade. He received his G.E.D. while in the Army. He was united in marriage to Theresa A. Fischer on September 30, 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church. Wesley served his country in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. After active duty he enlisted in the National Guards where he was called to active duty again in 1960.
Wesley was employed for a short time at Central Wisconsin Cheese in Marshfield, before starting a long career at Roddis – Weyerhaeuser Company. He held many positions during his long stay, finally retiring in 1990.
During his spare time Wesley enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and following his grandchildren's sporting events. The Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks were also followed closely. Florida was a popular destination for over 20 years during the winter months.
Wesley's true passion after his working years was St. Vincent DePaul. He served many years on the Board and was very active in everyday functions of the business. The Transitional Home completion was a dream come true! He was very instrumental in getting this project on board. He was actively involved at Sacred Heart Church as well as an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799 and and the Marshfield Eagles Club.
Wesley will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends. But the memories he has left us with will last a lifetime.
