Ward C. Irwin, Jr., 74, Wisconsin Rapids, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home in Babcock. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Private family committal services will be held in Babcock Cemetery. Ward was born on February 18, 1939 in the Town of Cary, Wood County, to Ward C. and Agnes (Schindler) Irwin, Sr. and attended schools in Cary and Pittsville. He was united in marriage to Charlene A. Pinney on June 20, 1964 in Pittsville. As a young man he had been employed as a milk hauler and then worked at Gottschalk Cranberry Company. He then was employed at Gardner's Cold Storage until his retirement. Ward enjoyed visiting Rainbow and Majestic Pines Casinos, deer hunting, motorcycling and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charlene and their children, Cliff (special friend – George Couzious) Irwin of Australia, Denise (Ray) Hansen of Adams, Darryle (Joann) Irwin of Pittsville, Dennis (Amy) Irwin of Nekoosa, and Deann (Bill) Batten of Tomah. He is also survived by grandchildren, Alisa and Drew Irwin, Mariah and Evan Guden, Cody Kuchynka, and Cordell and Makenzie Batten. He is further survived by sisters, Beverly (Russ) Schiller and Janet (Punk) Theil, and a brother, James (Darlene) Irwin, all of Pittsville.
