Walter A. (Sam) Willfahrt, 90, of Marshfield died on November 10, 2011 at the House of the Dove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Reverend Peter Manickam officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Mornson and Gordon Will. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Tuesday beginning at 9:30 at the church until time of the services. There will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Monday followed by a combined rosary service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home by the parish and Knights of Columbus. Sam was born February 4, 1921, to Joseph and Mary (Linhart) Willfahrt in the town of Milladore. He attended Auburndale schools. Sam was employed as a saw filer for Roddis Plywood Corp. for four years and then as a machinist for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, retiring in 1985. He was known for his strong work ethic. Sam was united in marriage to Barbara J. (Jeanne) Mornson on November 16, 1948 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Auburndale. They would have celebrated 63 years together within the week. Sam was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Marshfield Elks Lodge, a 50 year member of Catholic Knights, and a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Sam enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, hunting, watching the Brewers and Packers, and reading. He and Jeanne considered Panama City Beach, FL their home away from home, spending winters there for many years. Sam was both a gentleman and a gentle man. Sam is lovingly survived by his wife Jeanne; daughters, Susan (Tom) Youngwith and Nola (Bill) Hembrook, both of Marshfield; three granddaughters, Jodi (Jim) Boehmler of Schertz, TX, Nicole (Jamie) Weiler of Auburndale, Dani Hembrook (Dan Krueger) of Mukwonago and a sister-in-law Katherine Willfahrt of Marshfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Emery and Ermin Willfahrt and sisters Laura Liebl and Marie Collins.
