Virginia M. Torkildson, 85, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Rembs Funeral Home where visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Virginia was born on May 1, 1936 in Marshfield to Louis and Hattie (Andres) Gebelein. She graduated from Marshfield Columbus High School. She was united in marriage to Merlin "Merl" Torkildson on February 1, 1956 in Rapids City, SD. He passed away on May 22, 2021. Virginia worked at Weyerhaeuser for 40 years. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and volunteering as a poll worker. She is survived by 3 daughters, Reyne (Harold) Kenyon, Debbie (Bob) Forst, both of Marshfield, and Cherri (Nick) Ison of Port Washington, 7 grandchildren; Eric Forst, Lacey (Derek) Przybylski, Jessica Sabin, Derek Ison, Britney Ison, Oli Ison, and Dean Ison, and 6 great grandchildren; Kira, Brynleigh, Bentley, Brooklyn, Beckham, and Brody. She is further survived by brother-in-law, Jim (Tina) Torkildson of Minot, ND and sister-in-law, Lila Mossestad of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Nicholas Forst, and siblings, Delores Rickman, Lorraine Olson, Reuben Gabelein, and Jeanette Kennedy. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marshfield Medical Center and Virginia's special friends, Olive, Nancy, Carol, Anita, and Virginia for helping her the last few months.
