Virginia M. (Schneider) Johnson, 85, of Marshfield, died on October 8, 2026, at North Shore Healthcare at Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hewitt, with Rev. Angisamy Irudayaraj and Rev. Al Burkhardt co-officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15 at the church and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, also at the church.
Virginia was born on November 3, 1940, in the Town of Day to Eugene and Mary (Wilhelm) Weis. She attended St. Andrews’s Catholic School in Rozellville and graduated from Stratford High School. She married Norbert Schneider on October 14, 1959, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville. They raised their family in the Town of Marshfield. Norbert passed on May 10, 2008. On September 11, 2010, she married Jerry Johnson at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hewitt. They lived in Marshfield until his passing on October 13, 2021.
During the early years of her marriage to Norbert, Virginia was busy raising her ten children. She was last employed at Bethel nursing home in Arpin where she worked for 20 years.
Virginia was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, in Hewitt, WI, and the parish’s Council of Catholic Women, as well as a lifelong member of the Eagles Club. She enjoyed playing sheepshead and bingo, listening to polka music, and watching her favorite show Gunsmoke. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by nine children: Shirley (Greg) Heintz, Oakdale, MN; Steve (Sue) Schneider, Appleton; Debbie (Tom) Przybylski, Junction City; Jeff (Cristy) Schneider, Oshkosh; Dennis (Cindy) Schneider, Marshfield; Nancy (Steve) Kaiser, Mosinee; Julie (Mike) Lenz, Hermantown, MN; Mary (Kevin) Schweiger, Marshfield; and John (Penny) Schneider, Marshfield; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Jason (Ashley) Heintz and Philip and Luke; Breanna (Tanner) Beckman and Elle; Brennan (McKenzie Fuehrer) Schneider; LeeAnn (Nick Worms) Przybylski; Lindsey Przybylski; Katie and Jordyn Schneider; Dylan (Aubrey) Larsen, and Kaden and Stevie; Michaela (Conrad) Wood and Harper; Paige (Tristan) Devick; Lauren (Cooper Parham) Kaiser; Devin Lenz and Ramona; Ryan Lenz; Emily and Justin Schweiger; and Luke, Jennifer, Landon, Nathan and Kara Schneider.
Virginia is also survived by her two stepdaughters: Cheri (Gary) Imhoff, daughter Briana (Dustin) Whittington and children Izola and Lena; and Beth (Jerry) Burke and children Morgan and Tim.
Virginia is predeceased by her spouses Norbert and Jerry, daughter Ann Therese, her parents, and her older siblings Sister Mercita Weis, FSPA, Harold Weis, Norbert Weis, Melvin Weis, Dorothy Hamus, Marie Walter, Donald Weis and Clem Weis.
