Violet Dorothy Meyer, 86, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Due to the COVID pandemic a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Violet was born on June 7, 1934 in Bakerville, to Peter and Mary (Eckes) Bell and attended Bakervill and Marshfield schools. She was united in marriage to James L. Meyer on October 5, 1955 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville.
Before her marriage, Vi had been employed in the food service department at St. Joseph's Hospital. After her marriage she worked at Casa Loma Supper Club as an assistant cook and later was employed at Hillcrest Motel, all in Marshfield. Over the years Violet enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and doing word searches. She spent a great deal of time with her husband, family and friends at their cabin up north on the Mondeaux.
Violet is survived by her husband of 65 years, James "Jim" Meyer, Sr. and their children, James (Georgia) Meyer, Jr. of Marshfield, David Meyer of Marshfield, Joyce (Tom) Faber of Onalaska, Donald (Edith) Meyer of Marshfield and Daniel (Lori) Meyer of LaCrosse. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, William, Melissa, Jason, Jenny, Michael, Michelle, Collin, Bryant and Karlie and eight great grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, six sisters and two brothers.
The family would like to sincerely thank the palliative care unit at Marshfield Medical Center for their care, professionalism, and compassion. They were a blessing and a comfort to Violet and her family during this difficult journey.
