Obituary

Verna M. Lueck, 92 of Marshfield, passed away on Friday morning, December 30, 2011 at the Marshfield Care Center. Memorial services will be 1pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Kevin Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30pm until time of service at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Verna was born on December 31, 1918 in Marshfield to William and Elizabeth (Boettcher) Lueck. She attended McKinley High School but graduated from Purdy because of the fire at the high school. Verna then attended Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Verna taught elementary school in Birnamwood, Port Edwards and LaCrosse before joining the Marshfield School District. She taught for over 44 years. She loved cooking, crocheting, knitting, and always had a Boston terrier as a pet. Verna was a member of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and was very involved with her church. She is survived by her brother John F. Lueck, DDS of Marshfield and her nieces Peggy, Anne & Jane and their families. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Joanne M.
