Thomas E. Weigel, 75, of Town of McMillian died peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the House of the Dove. A graveside committal service and burial will be take place in September.
Tom was born on October 29, 1940 in Marshfield to Jake Sr. and Viola Weigel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High. Tom was married to Karen Schultz and later divorced. Tom served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Upon returning home he drove truck and worked as a mechanic for his parent's owned business, Weigel Beer Distributing Company. Tom farmed for many years in the Town of McMillian. In the last years of Tom's parent's lives Tom cared for his parents, Jake Sr. and Viola Weigel and was their constant companion.
Tom enjoyed working in his work shop building equipment for his farm, like his homemade tractor. He also built small sheds for storage. Tom enjoyed his rural surroundings, living all his adult life off of County Truck E and Turtle Road. He also enjoyed his neighbors and would frequently call them for a short chat. Those whose paths crossed with Tom's enjoyed his friendly nature and inquisitive questions.
Tom is survived by his three children, Larry Weigel of Marshfield, Lori Livingston (Jim) of Medford, and Lisa Gebert (David) of Medford. Tom has three grandchilden, Joshua, Amanda, and Matthew and one great-grandchild, William.
Tom is also survived by his brother, Jake Weigel, Jr (Carol) of Oklahoma and sister, Rosemary McInnis (Pat) of Arizona. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Jake Weigel, Sr. and Viola Weigel.
