Thomas J. Steinmetz, Jr., 71, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.
Private family committal services will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, with Rev. Keith Kitzhaber officiating.
Thomas was born on December 15, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas to Thomas J. and Violet (Huber) Steinmetz, Sr. He attended Columbus High School and then Marshfield Senior High School where he graduated in 1967. He then attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, where he graduated in 1971. After his education he became an entrepreneur where he owned and operated multiple hotel and apartment complexes. He was most known for owning and operating Central Wisconsin Coin Company in Marshfield until illness forced him to step aside.
Tom was involved in several business ventures, one of which took him to Hollywood where he was involved with movie productions including "Top Dog" with Chuck Norris.
Tom loved to fish, and he and Carol spent countless hours fishing various lakes and rivers. He enjoyed metal detecting and rock collecting with his son. He loved playing softball, enjoyed camping and was a Brewers, Packers and Bucks fan.
He married Carol J. Specht on February 19, 1982 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol and their son David Thomas Steinmetz of Madison, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom will be fondly remembered as a kind man who graciously helped others.
