Thomas N. "Teddy Bear" Sersch, 68, Marshfield, died on Monday October 21, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, with Rev. Douglas Westenberg, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield and serving as pallbearers will be Ross Sersch, Brian Welch, Chris Blomberg, Mark Pernsteiner, Steve Pernsteiner, and Dirk Bauer. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Saturday from 12:00 pm until service time at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Thomas was born on February 20, 1945 in Marshfield, the son of Arnold and Dorothy (Georgas) Sersch, Sr. and was a 1964 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Viet Nam War from 1965 until 1967. After his honorable discharge he joined Mueller Pipeline where he worked throughout the United States and retired as a foreman after 35 years.He married Karen Gilbert on March 1, 1980 in Hewitt. Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bear hunting, and spent 17 seasons at Lake Holcomb with his many friends. Another joy of his life were his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Karen and children, Michael, Tammy, Kelly, Penny, Harry, and Sandy. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Gordie, Christopher, Parker, Mia, Gerry, Brent, Brandon, Nicole and Landon. He further survived by 5 sisters, Anola (Greg) Pernsteiner of Medford, Mary (Vince) Weber, Beverly (William) Welch, Judith Sersch, and Nancy Mathewson, and a sister-in-law, Mary Sersch, all of Marshfield. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, James, Arnold, Jr., John, and Elmer Sersch and a sister, Alyce Mathews. The family will designate a memorial at a later date.
