Obituary

Tammy Meissner, 62, was called home after a 5-year battle with cancer on Monday, July 27, 2026 with her husband by her side.

She joyously joins her son, Jeremy, in heaven and will wait to be reunited with her husband Dave, her other two children Zach, Mandy, and her daughter-in-law Lindsay, and the joys of her life -- her grandchildren: Ethan, Blake, Tarin, Wyatt, Piper, Graysen and Miles.

Tammy was a force to anyone that knew her – A force for good in the community, a fierce friend, caring mother, steadfast wife, and just the best grandma. She believed that “we are here to add to, not to get what we can, from life” and she did so by pouring into her children and grandchildren all the “salt of the earth” wisdom she gathered from her mother and grandmothers before her. Things like: helping others is always a top priority, cooking for people is showing love, together is the best place to be, faith is a powerful thing, share your gifts or they’re wasted, and that “everyone’s got ‘stuff’ so be kind”.

Her love story with Dave was one for the books and their love for each other saw them through high school, early parenthood, the obstacles of farming, loss, and many, many joyous adventures. From trips to Alaska, Mexico and China, a house boat on the Mississippi or packing up an RV to see the East Coast and beyond, she and Dave lived more in their 44 years of marriage than most because Tammy was never afraid to live. In hard times or easy ones, she lived each day for others and rarely said no to a favor, challenge or adventure.

She leaves pieces of herself in those left behind including: her parents Roger and Judy Heeg; her siblings Scott (Linda) Heeg, Jeff (Jayne) Heeg, Tim Heeg, Sandy (Kevin) Weiler, Kim (Roy) James; her children Mandy (Josh) Witt, and Zach (Nicole) Meissner and daughter-in-law Lindsay (wife to the late Jeremy Meissner and partner to Noah Werner) Meissner; her grandchildren mentioned earlier; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and oh-so-many loyal and caring friends whom she thanked God for every day.

She joins in paradise her son Jeremy Meissner, her brother Stevie Heeg, her brother-in-law Steven Meissner, sister-in-law Melody Dovenbarger, brother-in-law Jerrold Meissner and mother- and father-in-law Norman and Elaine Meissner.

Private funeral services will be held for immediate family on Aug. 7 to keep the event intimate and ease the grief for the family. We know there are a lot of people that love Tammy and want to show that love, so we ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Marshfield Area United Way, The Marshfield Boys and Girls Club, or another youth organization of your choosing.
