Stephen Steffek, 97 of Arpin, died on Thursday morning, February 7, 2013 at the Bethel Center in Arpin. Memorial services will be 11am Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville with Pastor Doug A. Schalow officiating. Family will receive relative and friends at the church on Monday from 10am until time of services. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville is assisting the family with the arrangements. Stephen was born on December 23, 1915 in Cook County, IL to Michael and Lucia (Vicena) Steffek. He attended the town of Rock Schools in Wood County. He was united in marriage to Dorothy G. Feldt on June 3, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Woodstock, IL, returning to the town of Richfield, Wood County in 1948 where they farmed for 40 years. They retired in 1988 and both have been residents at the Bethel Center since July 2011. He is survived by his wife Dorothy at the Bethel Center, children Berneice (William) Herzberg of Black River Falls and Wally (Julie) Steffek of Arpin; three grandsons Tracy (Marti) Herzberg of Black River Falls, Troy (Liz) Herzberg of Melrose and their children, Zachary, Emily and Eric; Cory (Catherine) Steffek of Houston, TX and their daughter Olivia. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael and three sisters, Josephine Gardner, Sophia Bayer and Anna Bredemann. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
