Selma A. Hilgemann, 95, Stratford, died on Monday, October 19, 2015 at House of the Dove, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 23, 2015, at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Town of Cleveland, Marathon County, with Rev. Gary Welner officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday from 11:30 pm until service time at Ebenezer United Church of Christ. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Selma was born on September 15, 1920, in the Town of Cleveland to Henry and Henrietta (Reichert) Hilgemann. She attended Balsam School, Town of Cleveland and graduated from Stratford High School. She resided on the home farm in the Town of Cleveland and raised mink for 19 years. She also had been employed at St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aide for 13 years. She retired in 1980 and continued to reside at the home farm until 2000 when she moved to Marshfield. Selma was a loving sister, aunt, great and great great aunt. She enjoyed baking, cooking, crafting, especially needlepoint and spending time with family. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid. She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Grossbier of Marshfield and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Malinda Kachel, Gilsa Fuss, Elmira "Myra" Kupfer and Alma Hanley, a brother in infancy, and brothers Armand Hilgemann and Norman Hilgemann. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Memorials may be designated in her name to Children's Miracle Network or to House of the Dove.
