Sandra L. “Sandy” Schlagenhaft, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Marshfield on Saturday, October 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born on February 25, 1947, to Edwin and Dorothy Bauch. She graduated from high school in 1965 and went on to work in the Sales Department at Weyerhaeuser, where she met the love of her life, Jerry. Their love was an important part of her life, and she carried his memory with her following his passing.
Sandy took immense pride in her family and always put their needs before her own. She was a constant and loving presence in the lives of those closest to her, and her kindness touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sandy had a special way of making people feel loved, and those who met her were drawn to her warm heart and generous spirit.
After retiring, Sandy’s world revolved around her five beloved grandchildren: Jorja, Jalynn, Rayleigh, Nevaeh, and Josie. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, whether it was taking them shopping, going out for coffee, baking together, or watching them play sports. Her grandchildren brought her endless joy, and she never missed an opportunity to share stories about their lives and accomplishments with her best friends, Sandy, Kathy, and Sue.
Sandy was strong in her faith and made attending church every Sunday a priority. Her faith was an important part of who she was and how she lived her life, always showing love, generosity, and compassion to those around her.
Following Jerry’s passing, Sandy discovered a new passion for remodeling and decorating her home. She took great pride in each project and found joy in seeing her ideas come to life. Completing each project brought her a sense of accomplishment, and she was always proud of what she had achieved.
Above all, Sandy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her selflessness, her strong faith, and the countless ways she put others first. She was deeply involved in her family’s lives and created lasting memories that will be treasured for generations. Her love and presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories she leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Dorothy Bauch, and the love of her life, Jerry.
She is survived by her children, Robin Scherr and David (Tiffany) Scherr; her five cherished grandchildren, Jorja, Jalynn, Rayleigh, Nevaeh, and Josie; and many other loving family members and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Heartland Hospice and UW Health of Madison for the compassionate care they provided to Sandy at the end of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 17, 2026, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where the visitation will be on Friday, October 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and again on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Richfield following a lunch.
Sandy’s life was a beautiful example of putting family first, loving without hesitation, and finding joy in the people and moments that mattered most. She will forever be loved, deeply missed, and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
