Obituary

Sally J. Cherrier, 61, of Marshfield, passed away at her home on Monday, December 21, 2015. Sally loved her family, home, yard, Marshfield, and the green lushness of Wisconsin. She had an inquisitive nature, a love of people, gardens and scholastic achievement, always with an eye toward helping others. She chose her career with those things in mind, twice saving her husbands' life with her knowledge. Her friends, her pets and all those she came into contact with were blessed by her warmth and kindness. She will greatly missed. Sally was born on May 31, 1954 in Akron, Colorado to Harold and Avis (Padget) Alishouse. She was a 1978 graduate of North Iowa Community College, Mason City, Iowa where she received her Registered Nursing Degree. She completed leadership training at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, CO in 1993, obtained her Teaching Adult Learners Certification from Colorado State University and Total Quality Management Certification both in 1994. In 1995 she completed Orthopedic Nurse Certification. In 1997 she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Metropolitan State University, Denver, in 2012 her Master of Science Degree in Nursing Administration, and in 2014 her Master of Science in Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. She had been on the dean's list at Metropolitan State University of Denver, a member of Sigma Gamma Zeta II (Scholastic Honor Society UWEC) Sigma Theta Tau, Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) and the American Nurses Association and the Wisconsin Nurses Association. Sally had been employed as a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings for over 35 years. In 1997 she was employed at Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation SNF in Chippewa Falls until 1998 when she became Charge Nurse on-call at Hetzel Care Center SNF in Bloomer until 1999. She then became Nursing Supervisor at Eagleton Home for the Developmentally Disabled in Eagleton, WI until 2000 when she became Director of Nursing at skilled nursing facilities in Marshfield, Eau Claire and Thorp and Oakbrook Health and Rehabilitation in Thorp. She then worked in the Orthopedic Surgical Unit at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, in the capacity of Charge Nurse. She had been employed at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital as a float RN since 2002. Sally is survived by her husband, Jeff, sisters, Sue Ellen and Peggy, both of Colorado, a brother, Harvel of Phoenix, her mother-in-law, Arlis, sister-in-law, Renee and her pets, Christy and Rowdy. She was predeceased by her parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the banquet room at Five-O-One Sports Bar and Grill which will carry on to Bey's Bar afterwards, both in Marshfield. A quote from a James Taylor song were the watch words of her life, "Shower the people you love with love. Show them the way that you feel." In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Sally may be sent to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS). Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
