Ruth A. Gawlikoski, age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 4, 2023, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. The visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. St. Joseph's Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 5:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
Ruth was born on May 23, 1941, in Marshfield, to Willard and Marie (Prihoda) Zoellner. She received her education at St. Joseph's Parochial School, Stratford High School, St. Norbert College and IIT Institute of Technology. She was united in marriage to Roman J. Gawlikoski on November 24, 1967, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford. He died on May 19, 2018.
Ruth and her husband, Roman "Buba" farmed in the Town of Eau Pleine. Ruth was a faithful, active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and Birthright of Marshfield. She was passionate about quilting and teaching. She loved gifting her beautiful handmade quilts and she enjoyed teaching math, religion and CCD for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Casi Gawlikoski and Barry (Nya) Gawlikoski, all of Stratford and grandchildren, Journey, Josie, Johnna, Gavin, Maggie, and Huntur. She is also survived by brothers, John (Tami) Zoellner, Peter (Jackie) Zoellner, and Dr. Robert (Barb) Zoellner, and a sister, Mary (John Kins) Kier.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and a sister Kathryn Ayers.
Memorials may be designated to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
