Rosetta V. Smazal, 76, Spencer, died on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Ministry St. Josephs Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. James Logan officiating. Burial will take place in West Spencer Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:30 pm until service time at Rembs Funeral Home. Rosetta was born on February 16, 1935 in Auburndale to Peter and Dora (Weinfurter) Hamus and attended Auburndale area schools. She married Charles Smazal, Jr. on April 30, 1953 in Vesper, Wisconsin. He died on September 9, 1982. She and her husband farmed in the Spencer area and after her husbands death Rosetta continued to farm with her daughters. She enjoyed polka music, gardening and flowers, especially African violets and watching and feeding the birds. She is survived by four children, Elaine Smazal, Phyllis Smazal, Dennis (friend Beverly) Smazal, and Philip Smazal, all of Spencer. She is also survived by one grandson and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Raymond and Roger Hamus and a sister in infancy.
