Obituary

Rose Marie A. Cegielski, 92 of Stevens Point died peacefully with her family at her bedside on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013 at the Portage County Health Care where she had been a resident since March 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Saturday, July 6, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City with Fr. John Ofori-Domah officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitations will begin on Saturday morning from 8:30am until time of services at St. Michael's Church in Junction City. Martens/Rembs Funeral Home of Junction City is assisting the family with the arrangements. Rose Marie was born on November 8, 1920 in Stratford to Alphonse and Pauline (Weber) Kaiser. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School, graduated from Stratford High School in 1938, Marathon County Normal Teachers College in Wausau in 1940 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1965. She was united in marriage to Chester J. Cegielski on June 11, 1942 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford and he sadly died on July 17, 1989. She taught two years in Portage and Marathon County prior to her marriage, then taught at Wolfe School in Portage County, Junction City Elementary School and at the consolidated John F. Kennedy School in Junction from 1960-1983. Besides teaching, Rose Marie worked together with Chet on the family farm. She was a member of the National and Wisconsin Education Associations, St. Michael's Catholic Church, charter member of the Blue Army Prayer Group and was active in the World Apostolate of Fatima Prayer Group as well as other church spiritual programs. Rose Marie is survived by her children, James (Janet) Cegielski of Friendship, Frank (Dianne) Cegielski of Polonia, Joseph (Doreen) Cegielski of River Falls, Andrew Cegielski of Pittsville, Nancy Neusen of Fond du Lac and Mary (Bob) Kolodziej of Stevens Point; 26 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her five sisters, Dorothy Wenzel of Stratford, Grace (Warren) Lensmire of Stevens Point, Melanie Krebsbach of Colby, Anna Mae (Cliff) Rasmussen of Arkdale, Margaret Krautkrammer of New London and a son-in-law John (Patti) Van Asten of Rudolph. Besides her parents, and husband Chester, she was preceded in death by her infant son Jerome, daughter, Alice Van Asten along with five brothers, Oliver, Melvin, Ralph, Virgil and James Kaiser.
