Obituary

Ronald R. Anderson, 74, Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Hilltop on Pepper, Wisconsin Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at United Church of Christ, Pittsville, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am on Tuesday until service time. Rev. Wanda Veldman will officiate. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, is assisting with arrangements. Ronald was born on November 25, 1943 in Madison, the son of Arvid and Helen (Horn) Anderson. After Arvid's death, Oliver Bogsted became Ron's step-father. He was a 1961 graduate of Suring High School. He also was a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech/Broadcast Journalism. Ron enjoyed a 45-year career in multimedia including radio, television, and information technology. He was skilled in writing, public speaking, teaching, videography, photography, and editing. In the 1960's, he was employed as a disc jockey and reporter for radio stations in Two Rivers, Madison, Elgin, and Rockford. This was followed by work in television for Milwaukee stations WISN Channel 12 and WMVS Channel 10 Public Television. Ron was Director of Public Affairs and Editorial Director at Channel 12 for 11 years. He was affiliated with Channel 10 for 20 years as an employee or freelance producer/editor including 7 seasons for Outdoor Wisconsin. He later worked in video production, web-based training resources and communication for the Dept. of Natural Resources and the Dept. of Public Instruction. Ron served in the Army National Guard for 4 years and the army Reserve for 2 years. He was trained as a medical corpsman. He married Frances McGinley on September 4, 1987. They resided in Glendale, Manitowoc, Deerfield, and Portage prior to moving to Pittsville. Ron is survived by his wife Fran, and sisters, Diane (Tom) Rabe of Shawano, Linda (Jim) Rupiper of Suring and Renee (Douglas) LaViolette of Green Bay. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, John Riccio, of Medford, OR, Jennifer (Chase) Mulhall, of DePere, Kim (Isaiah) Mosteller of Asheville, NC, Amy (Kevin) Gordon of Lakeville, MN, Tina McGinley (Rodney Tubbs) of Wisconsin Rapids, Tammy (Jeff) Barstow of Port Edwards, Mike (Lynette) McGinley of Lakeville, MN, Brian (Manyi) McGinley of Appleton, Paul (Jenny) McGinley of Sussex, Nathan (Jenny) Bowden of Pittsville, Ryan Bowden of LaCrosse and Dustin McGinley of Wisconsin Rapids and many great nieces and nephews. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Kathy (Vic) Bowden of Pittsville and Janice McGinley of Lakeville, MN and brothers-in-law, Richard (Barbara) McGinley of Wisconsin Rapids, Robert (Lucy) McGinley of Nekoosa and Patrick (Jody) McGinley of Nekoosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Oliver Bogsted, his nephew, Brian LaViolette, his father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Ruth McGinley and brother-in-law, William McGinley. The family wishes to express their deep application for the loving, compassionate care provided to Ron by the staff of Hilltop on Pepper.
