Obituary

Roland S. Genett, age 94, of Arpin, passed away at his home in the Town of Richfield, surrounded by his family under the care of hospice on Friday, June 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Keston Ohm, David Genett, Adam Genett, Auston Kollmansberger, Alan Genett, Preston Genett and honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Jalon Kollmansberger, Brandon Ohm, Shawn Genett, John Genett and Richard Genett. Roland was born on December 13, 1926, in Marshfield, to Clarence and Isabel (Hilgart) Genett. He received his education in Marshfield. He was a member of the military, proudly serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy from December 13, 1944 until his honorable discharge on January 13, 1964. While in the Navy he served in numerous land and sea duty stations mostly on the east coast as a hospital corpsman. At retirement he held the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer. On September 22, 1950 he was united in marriage to Beulah F. Schell in Winchester, VA. In 1964 they moved to Marshfield. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1994. Upon retirement from the military, he was employed for 16 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield as an Orderly Supervisor. He then opened "Roland's Small Engine Service" which he operated for 12 years. He is survived by his children, Roland D. Genett of Arpin, Edward (Barbara) Genett and Randall Genett, both of Auburndale, Dana Genett and Michelle (Dennis) Lindner, both of Marshfield. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Anthony "Dave" Genett and a sister, Donna Goes, both of Marshfield and his special friend Marion Deslover. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Kenneth and a sister, Mary Ann. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for their special care.
