Obituary

Roger B. Rasmussen, 83 of Marshfield died on Saturday morning, September 20, 2014 at his home with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30pm Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with his grandsons as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #54 of Marshfield. Visitations will be on Tuesday from 4-8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 12:30pm until time of services. There will be a combined rosary service by the Parish and Knights of Columbus at 6:30pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Roger was born on March 6, 1931 in Sheboygan, WI to Peter "Bert" and Arvilla (Kuehlman) Rasmussen. He was a 1949 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and served in the United States and Wisconsin Army National Guard from May 26, 1953 until his honorable discharge on May 25, 1956. He was united in marriage to Iris M. Young on September 11, 1954 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. Upon returning to Marshfield, Roger joined the family business, Marshfield Wilbert Vault Works, retiring in 1992 as President and co-owner. He loved his family, friends and fishing at the lake. Roger's quick wit and spontaneous sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Iris, children, Ellen Rasmussen of Ames, IA, Jean Rasmussen of Marshfield, Michael (Janet) Rasmussen of Verona, Paul (Lori) Rasmussen of Arpin and John (Nancy) Rasmussen of Eden Prairie, MN; 13 grandchildren, Patrick and Chloe Schmidt, Anna, Patrick and Alex Faucher, Erik, Evan and Ryan Rasmussen, Jeremy (Lacey) Rasmussen, Amanda Rasmussen and her daughter Meghan Marie, Ethan, Emily and Dayton Rasmussen. He is further survived by his siblings, Evelyn (Alfred) Alf of Naples, FL; Ila Seidl of Marshfield; Janice "Jan" Rasmussen of Marshfield; Marian (Gary) Gunn of Marshfield; Jack Rasmussen of Green Bay; Vicky ( Duane) Anderson of Sun Prairie; Dennis (Barbara) Rasmussen of Johnson Creek and Larry (Bonnie) Rasmussen of Marshfield. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Sandra, brother Keith Rasmussen and brother-in-law Don Seidl. Memorials may be designated to either St. John's Church or the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation for Parkinson's disease. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
