Robert G. Schopp, 74, Marshfield and Marenisco, MI, died peacefully with his wife at his side, on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 pm until service time. Rev. Peter Ruggles will officiate. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
Bob was born on September 28, 1942 in Milwaukee to George and Blanche (Ring) Schopp and was a 1960 graduate of Custer High School, Milwaukee. He also was a 1965 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Pharmacy.
He married Joan Geschke and they divorced. He later married Kathryn L. Geertz Grider on September 11, 2004.
After his education, Bob began his pharmacy career in Menomonee Falls and continued in Sturgeon Bay, Green Bay, Waupun and Tomah. He then became Director of Pharmacy at the Marshfield Clinic and later retired from Medford Memorial Hospital as Chief of Pharmacy.
Bob enjoyed his retirement in the UP of Michigan, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, winemaking, jam making, gardening, photography, tinkering, bird watching and his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy, and his children; Laurie (fiancé – John Snipes) Johnson of Oconomowoc, Greg (Teri) Schopp of Johnson Creek, Jeff (Sarah) Schopp of Burlington and Steve (Jess) Schopp of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary (Heidi) Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Alexa Schopp, Nolan Schopp, Elisabeth Schopp, Katie Schopp and Charles Schopp. He is further survived by a stepson, Michael Grider (Jenny Bohlke), a sister, Marian (James) Bringe, a brother, Carl (Nancy) Schopp and a special canine friend, Abbie.
He was predeceased by his parents.
