Robert L. Aschenbrenner, 101 of Marshfield died peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music for the service.
Entombment will be at McMillan Memorial Cemetery in Marshfield following the Mass. Robert's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitations will be from 4-8pm Thursday at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Friday at the church from 9:30am until service time. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:30pm Thursday at Rembs.
Robert was born in Auburndale on May 25, 1914 to Louis and Mary (Hilgart) Aschenbrenner. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School but quit school to help on the home farm.
He was united in marriage to Lovilia A. Kroh on June 26, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburndale. She sadly passed away on April 28, 2012.
They lived in Auburndale until moving to Marshfield in 1950 where he worked at Roddis Plywood Company for over 36 years, retiring in 1975. In 1967, they moved to their present home on Drake Avenue in the McMillan township where he farmed while working at Weyerhaeuser Co.
He enjoyed visits from his family, dancing, listening to old time music and he always said, he loved the farm.
He is survived by his children Roger Aschenbrenner of Marshfield; Robert (Beverly) Aschenbrenner of Stratford; JoAnn (James) Bornbach of Marathon; Kenneth (Nancy) Aschenbrenner of Marshfield and Gary (Bonny) Aschenbrenner of Stratford; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. He is further survived by a brother Alex Aschenbrenner of Plainfield, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew.
Besides his parents and wife, Lovilia, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joyce, 2 brothers Edwin and Elmer Aschenbrenner and 4 sisters Helen Aschenbrenner, Luella Virgil, Mary Ann Kobleske and Virginia Brost.
