Obituary

Robert W. Kiwak, 79, Pittsville, passed away at his home on Monday, February 2, 2015. Graveside committal services will be held at the Dexterville Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015. Following the committal service military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Robert was born on November 10, 1935 in West Allis, WI to Joseph T. and Adelle T. (Krivanek) Kiwak, Sr. Robert and his family came to the Pittsville area in 1947 where he graduated from Pittsville High School in 1953. He also received a diploma from Deforest Correspondence School in Electronics. Robert farmed from 1946 to 2009. He worked in the cranberry industry and also harvested sphagnum moss. He operated Kiwak Radio and TV with his brother from 1950 to 1985. He was a talented man and knew his profession well, servicing the surrounding area for 35 years. Robert served in the U.S. Army – Calvary as a Browning Automatic Weapon Carrier from 1958 to 1960, and served in the Reserve from 1962 to 1963. He was in the service with Elvis Presley and shared the same barracks. Robert is survived by his brother, Joseph (Loretta) Kiwak, Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids; two nieces, Kristen (Eric) Kiwak Turner of Marshfield, and Debbie (Tom) Jungwirth of Wisconsin Rapids; two nephews, Joseph Kiwak, III of Marshfield, and David (Tammy) Kiwak of Wisconsin Rapids; and numerous cousins and dear friends and his beloved dog, "Bucky."
