Robert J. Keyes, 86 of Marshfield died at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Suzanne Golden along with St. John Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery, Spencer.
Visitations will be from 5:30-8pm Tuesday at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until service time. There will be a combined Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard will be present at Rembs Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
Bob was born on May 27, 1928 in Town of Sherman, Clark County to Edward and Irene (Edwards) Keyes. After his education, he served in the United States Army from July 17, 1945 until his honorable discharge on August 28, 1946.
He was united in marriage to Vera L. Freeman on December 13, 1947 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Spencer.
Bob owned and operated a trucking and RV manufacturing business in Spencer for several years. He also was involved in financial services for a period of time.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting at Teal Lake, collecting and polishing rocks, traveling and visiting family. Bob was involved in the Spencer Village Board, Spencer School Board and was a member of SCORE. He was also a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and 4th Degree Assembly #1219 of Marshfield.
Bob is survived by his wife Vera, children Michael (Connie) Keyes of McMinnville, OR, Jerome (Gloria) Keyes of Colgate, WI, Christine (Gene) Gowey of Sparta, Barbara (Gene) Kubs of Marshfield, Timothy (Jill) Keyes of Eau Claire, Mary (Mark) Navara of St. Paul, MN and John (Dena) Keyes of Iron Mountain, MI; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister Marlene (Roland) Schafer of Spencer and a sister-in-law Audrey Keyes of Neenah.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremiah Gowey, brother Richard Keyes and 3 sisters, Edwina Keyes, Dorothy Summers and Delores Cook.
