Robert W. Holubets, 76 of Marshfield passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Ministry St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be 11am Friday, December 23, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery by his boys. Mary Castner will provide the music along with congregational singing. Family will receive relatives and friends from 4-8pm Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and again on Friday at the church from 10am until time of service. Bob was born on November 9, 1935 in Marshfield to William and Louise (Gandt) Holubets. He was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. Bob and Jackie F. Olstinski were united in marriage on February 20, 1954 in Dubuque, IA. Bob worked various businesses in Marshfield until He purchased the Downtowner Supper Club which he owned and operated for many years with help of his wife and children and great employees. Bob always made you feel like you were part of his family. This is where he met the best of friends and those friendships lasted a lifetime. He and Jackie took many trips to Las Vegas, especially when the WI Badgers played football out there. He also enjoyed going to his annual Milwaukee Brewers game. There you could see him on TV, cheering on the Brewers. He was an avid Marshfield Tiger Fan. He enjoyed watching members of his family play football, basketball and hockey, his greatest joy was watching his grandson play and win the State Football Championship in Madison in 1997. He looked forward to hunting season so he could go hunting with the boys, shooting a buck this past season, He also enjoyed a good card game and was very proud of his first perfect cribbage hand this past October. The biggest joy of his life where his grandchildren who he talked nonstop about. And then he was blessed with 5 Great Grandchildren which were the light of his life. If you were a friend of Bob's you were a friend for life. He always had time to stop and say Hi. He and Jackie were married for 56 years and without her love and support he never would have lived such a full life. Bob is survived by his wife Jackie of Marshfield, children Michael (Pam) Holubets of Marshfield, Kathy (Dave) Lenz of Marshfield and Bill (Joy) Holubets of Wausau; eight grandchildren, Bob Lenz, Brad (Kerry) Lenz, Katie (Michael) Tamas, Brooke (Courtney) Wenzel, Justin (Natasha) Holubets, Ashley Holubets, Bailey and Brianna Holubets; five great grandchildren, Vivian, Cashton, Mia, Laela and Emily. He is further survived by a brother Jerry (Mary) Holubets and a sister Jan Thomas both of Marshfield. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Jeff and John in 1978.
