Robert G. Haupt, 71, Auburndale, died peacefully with his wife and sons at his side on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Milwaukee VA Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Auburndale, with Rev. Peter Raj, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Robert was born on February 26, 1941 in Auburndale, the son of Frank and Anna (Unertl) Haupt and was a graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force stationed in Phalsbourg, France where he met and married Lydia L. Heyl. They came back to the United States where Bob was stationed in Texas. They later moved to Marshfield and Bob was deployed to Viet Nam for seventeen months. He then served tours in England, Hawaii, and Belgium. He finished his career in the Military Reserves in Minneapolis, retiring in May of 1992, with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant serving twenty seven years in the Air Force. Bob adored his grandchildren and was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Auburndale School Board, a commissioner for the V.A. and the Civil Service Board. He is survived by his wife, Lydia, and their sons, Michael and Dominic Haupt. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Kylah and Cody. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Donald (Cherie) Haupt, Dorothy (John "Jack") Steber, Betty Zimmermann, and David (Julie) Haupt. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister. The family will designate a memorial in Bob's name at a later date. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
