Obituary

Robert J. Draxler, 97, Auburndale, died on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Wells Nature View Assisted Living on South Apple Avenue, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Auburndale, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6352. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Robert was born on March 28, 1919 in Auburndale, the son of Frank and Mary (Marti) Draxler. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School and Auburndale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II from 1941 until 1945. After his honorable discharge he became employed at Thomas Electric until 1953. He then began Draxler Electric which he operated until his retirement in 1981 when his sons assumed operation of the business. Robert married Jeanette D. Kraus on February 5, 1949 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville. She died on February 10, 2001. Robert was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, The Knights of Columbus, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. He served as clerk for the Village of Auburndale. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and making wine. He is survived by his children, Mary Jean (Bill) Vandehey of Avon Park, FL, JoAnn Draxler of Marshfield, Robert F. (Bonnie) Draxler of Auburndale, Judy (Howard) McLean of Hinton, Alberta, Canada, Dennis (Sharon) Draxler and Lynn (Barry) Lingford, all of Auburndale. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Kris (Dave) Engebretson, Kim (Corey) Apprill, Neil (Maria) Draxler, Jenny (Chad) Grimm, Sara (Chris) Leonhardt, Angie (Michael) Hull, Sierra (Rob) Lopetinsky, Shawna (Gordon) Knaus, Sasha Grinnell, Janel Draxler, Leah (Corey) Schill, Megan Draxler, Jessica (Ryan) Kurz, John Lingford, and Jenny Lingford and 26 great grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters, Marietta Drach of Marshfield and Annita Koenig of Kingsford, CA and a brother, Vernon (Rita) Draxler of Elk River, MN. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, sisters, Dolores Kraus, Imelda Passineau and Marcella Bretzel and brothers, Arnold, Joseph, and Francis Draxler. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wells Nature View for the wonderful loving care that was given to their Dad.
