Robert E. Greifenhagen "Bob", 73, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at home and went to his heavenly home with the Savior he loved. He endured years of medical issues with courage and faith, always our hero. With a big smile and big heart, Bob lived to honor God and serve his family, his country and people in need.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18 at 11 am at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with visitation from 9 am until service time. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Entombment will follow in McMillan Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Marathon County, where military rites will be conducted.
Bob was born on March 27, 1948, in Milwaukee to Gilbert O. and Lillian E. (Mahnke) Greifenhagen. He married Margaret M. "Peg" Connolly on August 22, 1970, and they raised three children and five foster daughters. He taught as Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at Purdue University for a time, and worked as a licensed Pharmacist, lay minister and proud member of the National Guard. He became a veteran for serving in a Persian Gulf War medical evacuation unit, bringing his troops safely home as Flight Commander. He retired from the National Guard as Lieutenant Colonel, continuing to serve as a consultant pharmacist, school board member for three terms, and leader of a church community in Marshfield until his passing.
Bob enjoyed talking about God, history, politics, the Packers, fishing, his garden and his beloved family. His warm heart, ready laughter and practical advice live on in his legacy of integrity, honor and genuine love for people.
He is survived by his wife, Peg; their children, Lila Hamel, Megan Hamilton, and Robert J.; and grandchildren, Nathan, Jonathan, Jordana, Luke and Annaleya; as well as foster daughter, Kim Crays. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frederic R. and Gilbert D. Greifenhagen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Bob's name to Wounded Warrior Project, Gideons International or a diabetes research charity.
