Rita J. Vanderwyst, 87, Marshfield, passed away into the hands of the Lord peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Rembs Funeral Home. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until service time. Burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. Rita was born on December 8, 1924 in Marshfield, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Schneiweis) Zeidler and was a 1942 graduate of McKinley High School, Marshfield. She married Maurice H. Vanderwyst on February 28, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. Maurice passed on September 29, 1973. Rita was blessed with a large, loving family whom she enjoyed. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and cribbage. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She had resided at the Aster Retirement Community for the past two years. She is survived by six sons and a daughter, James (Sandra) Vanderwyst of Holmen, Kathy Jo Shupe (Ron Appleman) of Marshfield, Thomas Vanderwyst of Eau Claire, Donald (Debra) Vanderwyst of Marshfield, Jack (Cheryl) Vanderwyst of Hewitt, Steven (Marilyn) Vanderwyst of Marshfield, and Mark (Christine) Vanderwyst of Marshfield. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Sharon, a son-in-law, Ronald Shupe, a granddaughter, Kimberley Jo Shupe, three brothers and five sisters.
