Richard A. Zalabsky, 72, Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home.
Richard was born on May 7, 1948 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Adolph and Edna (Keuer) Zalabsky. He graduated from Pittsville High School in 1966. He earned his Bachelor's degree from UW Stevens Point, Master's degree from Purdue University, and PhD from University of Arizona. He was a Research Fellow and Physics Professor at the University of Missouri in Rolla. Upon completing his research there, he retired and returned to Pittsville to care for his parents. He was an excellent gardener who shared much of his produce with family and friends. When he wasn't in the garden or working in his yard, he enjoyed working at his computer.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors.
His family wishes to thank physicians and staff of Marshfield Hospital who cared for him and the Staff of Rembs for helping us at this difficult time. We also extend our special thanks to Pittsville Fire Chief, Jerry Minor and EMT staff, and to John Baum and all of his Pittsville neighbors for the friendship and support shown to Richard and our family over the years.
