Richard R. Thiel, Sr., 70, Pittsville, passed away on Friday September 4, 2014 at his home in the Town of Wood. Richard was born on January 31, 1944 in Pray, Wisconsin to Florian and Helen (Struomski) Thiel. He later lived in City Point. He attended City Point grade school and Pittsville High School. He married Jan "Punk" Irwin on June 13, 1964. They later divorced. Richard was a construction laborer for Local 1407 for 30 years until retiring in 1999. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, gardening, fishing, riding motorcycle, restoring old tractors, and playing pool. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan. Richard is survived by his two sons, Richard (Michelle) Thiel, Jr. and Scott (Pam) Thiel, all of Pittsville and four grandchildren, Jade, Monte, Gage and Tara. He is also survived by his brother, Victor Thiel and his ex-wife, Jan "Punk" Thiel. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Rosemary, and his brother, Martin.
