Obituary

Richard M. 'Dick' Scheuer, 85 of Marshfield passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital. Richard was born January 16, 1928 to Arthur and Erma (Wagner) Scheuer in Marshfield. He went to St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. He was involved in the 4-H Club and FFA. After graduation he went to the Agriculture Short Course in Madison, WI. While serving in the Navy as secretary, he came home on leave to be united in marriage to Dolores G. Weigel on May 13, 1952 at St. John's Catholic Church. After discharge he came home to farm. He enjoyed getting together with his brother and sisters. He enjoyed playing sheepshead & smear with the card club for over 55 years. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He always enjoyed a good party. Richard was very involved in politics, whether during family get-togethers, or as town clerk for McMillan Township, or serving on the board for Marathon County for 20 years. He was involved in the Equity Livestock Board, member of the board for Central City Credit Union. He was very involved with the Lions Club of Rozelleville serving as club treasurer for 16 years. After retiring he worked at the University Extension. He was very involved in the Central Wisconsin State Fair as superintendent of the Poultry Barn. He started the tradition of auctioning off "The Goose with the Golden Egg" during the market animal sale to raise money for the fair. Richard is lovingly survived by his wife, Dolores, and seven children, Larry Scheuer of Marshfield, Duane (Delores) Scheuer of Marshfield, Linda Langman of Palm Desert, CA, Debra (Tom) Sinn of Chili, Rick Scheuer of Marshfield, Mark Scheuer of Marshfield, Cheryl (Dave) Swensen of Auburndale. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nicholas & Gregory Scheuer, Kelly (Tom) Silbernagel & Michelle Sinn, Eric & Ryan Langman, Aaron Swensen, two great-granddaughters, Emma & Addison. Richard is further survived by six sisters, Marjorie Oppman of Marshfield, Lou (Philip) Hein of Stratford, Florence (Merlin) Lindow of Neillsville, Carol (John) Schultz of Rozellville, Shirley Mounce of Winona, MN, Joyce (John) Kilty of Phillips and one brother, Robert Scheuer of Marshfield. Richard was predeceased in death by a brother, Jerome, a sister, Mildred, a sister-in-law, Kay Scheuer and a brother-in-la, George Oppman. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship will be set up at a later date. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield. Visitations will be from 4-7pm Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Thursday at the church from 9:30am until service time. There will be a combined rosary service at 6:30pm on Wednesday at Rembs with the Parish and Knights of Columbus. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
