Richard A. Fredette, 82 of rural Pittsville died at his home surrounded by his wife and children on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post # 153 of Pittsville of which he was a member.
Visitations will be from 4-7pm Wednesday at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10am until time of services.
Richard was born on September 10, 1932 in Iron Mountain, MI to Albert and Vivian (Blatchford) Fredette. He attended St. Joachim's Parochial School in Pittsville then later enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until his honorable discharge. He received a purple heart during his military duty. When he returned to Pittsville he had farmed and met his wife Betty Grimm. They were united in marriage on February 16, 1953 in Pittsville. They continued to farm until his retirement.
Richard is survived by his wife Betty, children Brenda (Terry) Giese of Howards Grove, Gayla Fredette of Marshfield, Lana Fredette of Pittsville, Dixie (Erv) Kieffer of Pittsville, Rachelle Crawford of Marshfield and Richard Fredette of Pittsville; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers Walter (Mary) Fredette of Vesper, Gary Fredette of NC and Joe (Doris) Fredette of Pittsville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
