Rev. Thomas F. Witzel, 76 of Marshfield and formerly of Dodgeville and Spring Green died on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield of myelofibrosis.
He was born on May 28, 1939 in Milwaukee. He was survived by his wife Sara of 58 years, formerly of Dodgeville whom he met when they were students at the University of Wisconsin Madison; daughter Stephanie of Mine Hill, NJ and daughter Andrea of Waconia, MN and 5 grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Richard (Carolyn) Witzel of Marshfield and their children Paul, Thomas and Holly, grandnephews and grandnieces.
After graduating from WU Madison, he received a 3 year degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and then served Congregational Christian Churches in Spring Green and Lone Rock, WI, Bowling Green, OH, Chester and Randolph, NJ and Sun City AZ. After retiring to Marshfield, Thomas served as a volunteer teacher, preacher and vestryman at St. Albans Episcopal Church and later at St. Paul's UCC. He is the author of three books on the Trinity.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Gertrude (Ehle) Witzel.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
