Raymond E. Phillippi, age 84, of Pittsville, WI died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, WI.
Ray was born on April 12, 1931 in Pittsville to Henry and Caroline (Kienzle) Phillippi. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was a member of American Legion Post 153. He married Carol Schilter on June 16, 1962 in Pittsville. Ray worked for Consolidated Papers, retiring after 42 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed the time he got to spend with the people at Ocean Spray.
Ray enjoyed gardening, traveling, walking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved cooking and baking for his family and friends. Ray cheered on the Badgers, the Packers, and the local sports teams. He found it a privilege to travel to Washington D.C. on the Honor Flight. Ray was active in the Crossroads Evangelical Free church, serving on the board.
Ray is survived by his wife Carol; two sons, Mark (Jacki Stroik) Phillippi, Stevens Point, WI, Patrick (Annie) Phillippi, Milwaukee, WI, and one daughter, Kathryn Rae (Gary) Immel, Appleton, WI; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Chrissy Phillippi, Bailey and Kyle Immel, Ashley Wire, Eric MacKay, and Alex Phillippi; five great -grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Donna) Phillippi, one brother-in-law, Jim Larson, and one sister-in-law, Helen Phillippi, and many nephews and nieces.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Walter, Hank, Carl, Donald, and Empton, and four sisters, Ethel, Elsie, Kay, and Carol.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church, Pittsville, WI. Rev. David Bratlie and Rev. Bruce Naugle will officiate. Military rites will be conducted following the service at the church by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville. Visitation will be at Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, on Monday, Dec. 21 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
