Raymond A. Landwehr, 89, Stratford, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids, with Rev. Nathan Biebert officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Ray's 9 grandsons, Raymond Bangart, Roy Bangart, Gene Empey, Nathan Syring, Henry Landwehr, Joshua Karl, Roger Empey, Alex Landwehr, and Brandon Karl. The visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Raymond was born on January 1, 1926 in the Town of Emmet, Marathon County, to Martin and Minnie (Schallock) Landwehr. He attended country school and then farmed in rural Stratford. He also did electrical service work for many neighbors and family. He married Elnora R. Weiland on October 15, 1949 at Emmaunuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids.
Ray had the polka band "The Nite Owls" for 75 years which included his daughter Janet, son Ronald, brother, Donald, Jerold Lenz and Ken Folz. They played for many area events such as anniversaries, weddings and other parties. He was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was confirmed and in earlier years sang in the choir and played on the dart ball team and was involved in the mens club. He enjoyed fishing, polka dancing and camping. The Landwehr's went camping with their motor home every chance they could and belong to the Travel America Campgrounds. They had traveled to most of the states and Alaska.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elnora and their children, Judy (Roger) Empey, Janet (Thomas) Kniess, Randall (friend - Carrie) Landwehr, Ronald (Sue) Landwehr, and Jane (Paul) Karl. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Jerold (Marie) Landwehr, Gordon (Betty) Landwehr, Lavern (Ellen) Landwehr, Eugene Landwehr, Wilmer (Ione) Landwehr, Shirley (Ernie) Johnson, and Donald (June) Landwehr, a sister-in-law, Edna Landwehr and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Allen and Ivan Landwehr, a sister, Bernice Boucher, a brother-in-law, Edward Boucher, and sisters-in-law, Janet Landwehr and Jan Landwehr.
