Randall (Randy) Allen Mayer passed away June 24, 2012 unexpectedly. He was born on November 5, 1958 to the late Al and Gladys Mayer of Arpin. Randy attended elementary and high school in Auburndale, graduating in 1976. After graduating he worked on the family farm until 1982 when he purchased it. He married Cathy Steiner on October 30, 1982. They farmed in Arpin until 1986 when moving to Marshfield. They moved to Stratford in 1990. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his buddy, Deven. He was a wonderful dad, and loving husband, and the best grandpa Deven could ever ask for. He was one of the original founding members of Central Wisconsin Whitetails. Some of his greatest memories were hunting out west with family and friends. He enjoyed teasing the younger members of his hunting party by telling them the only way to get a big buck was to listen to Oldies music. He loved being outdoors working in the garden or playing with "his buddy". He will be greatly missed and always loved by his wife, Cathy, his only daughter Jen, and his wonderful grandson Deven. He will be also missed by his sisters Char (Jim) Austin of Janesville, Pat (Jerry) Karl of Rozellville, and Mary Kay Prust (Larry M.) of Marshfield, and his brothers Rick (Mary) Mayer of Arpin, and Ben Rhodes of Hewitt, sisters-in-law Sherry (Dan) Haley of Milwaukee and Lorie Steiner of Clear Lake, MN, and brothers-in-law Steve (Deb) Steiner of Stratford, and Danny Steiner (Jane Krause) of Stratford, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitations will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield from 4-8pm and again on Thursday at the church from 10am until service time. Mass of Christian burial will be 11am Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford with Rev. Eric Berns and Rev. John Alphonse officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County with nieces and nephews Adam Steiner, Matt Steiner, Patrick Bornbach, Erin Bornbach, Katie Bohman, Jason Austin, and Mike Mayer serving as pallbearers. Readings will be done by Jennifer Perry. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Al and Gladys Mayer, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dave and Edie Steiner and his brother Sebastian.
