Morits
Feb 22, 1951 — Sep 24, 2026
Randall J. Morits was born in Bethel, CT in 1951 to Joseph Bernard (Bernie) and Marguerite/Peggy (Walter) Morits. Randy passed away unexpectedly at Marshfield Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin on September 24, 2026, at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as a younger brother, Robert Morits.
Randy is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Anna (Ann or Annie) Mazur Morits, of Sebring, Florida and Schofield Wisconsin, and by brothers, Rick Morits and wife, Betty of Jupiter, Florida and Roger Morits and wife Michelle, of Bethel, Connecticut; and his sisters-in-law, Helen Woodward of Wausau, Wisconsin and Mary Vostinar of Henderson, Nevada.
He is also survived by six nephews, Scott Morits and wife, Courtley; Sean Morits, Tyler Morits and wife, Theresa, all of Connecticut and nephews, Andrew Woodward and wife, Katie; Matthew Woodward and wife, Amy, all of Wisconsin and nephew, Kevin Vostinar and wife, Janet, of Henderson, Nevada and grand nephews, Nicholas Morits, Christopher Vostinar, Andrew/Drew Woodward, Cash Woodward, Lucas Woodward and Nolan Woodward, Joseph Morits, Lucas Morits, Owen Morits, and great nieces, Ella Morits, Zoey Morits, Samantha Morits, Nicole Vostinar, and Thea Pearl Woodward. Randy is also survived by many Godchildren and “adopted” Godchildren.
Randy was a 1968 graduate of Bethel High School and had a career with the City of Danbury Fire Department (Local 801) receiving the honor of “firefighter of the year” in 1984. Randy retired as Supervisor of Apparatus after serving the community for twenty-seven years. In the years prior to working for the fire department, he worked for Gallagher’s Atlantic Gas Station (68-70), Blackman’s ARCO gas station (70-74), and Ackell Woodworking (74-79) all in the Germantown district of Danbury. He also worked as an electrician for Franklin Electric, Thorne Electric, and Tierney Electric throughout the years.
Randy lived in Bethel, Connecticut until his marriage, then he and Annie moved to the Great Plain area of Danbury. After his retirement, he and Annie moved to Tomahawk, Wisconsin. In 2018, they moved to Cape Coral, Florida and then to Sebring, Florida in 2025 with a summer residence in Schofield, Wisconsin.
Randy was a man of few words – he spoke with those baby blue eyes. He was kind, trusting and giving. Randy was an avid golfer in Connecticut and Wisconsin and enjoyed woodworking and building or repairing most anything, being a talented jack-of-all-trades. His skills and giving attitude were invaluable and greatly appreciated by all his family and friends - from cleaning or repairing vehicles to electrical work, electronics guidance, woodworking, or carpentry projects. If you had a problem, he’d be researching it immediately and would give you a solution or, in many cases, would come over to handle it in person. Randy performed all these tasks
for his many friends and family members without any expectation of recognition or reciprocation.
Randy was a member of the Danbury Association of Retired Firefighters (DARF), the Moose Lodge and an Auxiliary member of the VFW. He was also a former member of the Danbury Yacht Club, and a long-time member of the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department.
Randy was memorialized at a Celebration of Life at The Palms Supper Club in Schofield Wisconsin for family members and at a private brunch in Cape Coral, Florida. There will be another Celebration of Life in December at Anthony’s Lake Club in Danbury, Connecticut.
Donations in Randy’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at Alzheimer's Association .
