IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramon L.
Newby
March 8, 1936 – March 17, 2024
Ramon L. Newby, 88, Junction City, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City with Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 485 – Rudolph at the funeral home following the service.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 and from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday, all at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City.
Ramon was born on March 8, 1936 in Milladore to Clarence and Marjorie (Rogers) Newby. He graduated from Auburndale High School. He married Sandra Stoflet on November 5, 1960 in Milladore. He worked as a road builder, dozer and motor grader operator, and foreman for Pagel Construction from 1957-1998.
Ramon enjoyed making maple syrup, grooming snow mobile trails, fishing with family for fun and "competitive", fishing with Tony and Maury, bowling, deer and fowl hunting, fixing things, making firewood, and rebuilding tractors. He was also a very active member of the Junction City Lions, Sundowners, and Snowmobile Club, being instrumental in the development and maintenance of the club.
Ray…never met a problem he wouldn't try to solve. All dogs, cats, and babies were drawn to him. He loved moving dirt, repeatedly, and never met a blizzard he wouldn't drive in. His work ethic was intense and born of hardship, and he always wanted to fix things. Being in the woods was his heaven, and he loved the sun and the wind in the trees. He had a twinkle in his eyes and was always ready to provide sassiness to the situation. He loved people, and having those he loved surrounding him. He always only ever wanted to be home, and we are thankful we were able to give him a journey home that is exactly what he wanted.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, son, Steve (Ashley) of Stevens Point, daughter, Jean (Roger) of Arpin, 2 grandchildren, Thomas (Becca) Newby and Lyndsey Newby, many step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, RayLynn Newby and many step great grandchildren. He is further survived by brother, Benjamin Newby of Plover, half-sister, Cheryl Moore (Eugene) of Anchorage, AK, and sisters in law, Carol and Kathleen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Melvin, Donald, James, Roy, Kenneth, half brother, Larry (Robyn) Newby, and sisters in law, Molly, Darlene, and Betty.
