Ralph was born on January 20, 1948 in Marshfield, to Joseph A. and Iva I. (Genett) Lang and was a graduate of Columbus High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving from August 24, 1967 until his honorable discharge on August 22, 1969. He married Cynthia Harriman on September 16, 1995 and they later divorced, but continued to care and support each other.
Ralph co-owned and operated FRB Lang Construction for several years and then operated on his own. He later constructed, owned and operated apartments in Marshfield and was a member of the Marshfield Area Apartment Association. Ralph was a lifetime member of St. John's Catholic Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the Big Brother organization and encouraged sports, sponsoring various teams.
Ralph was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and in his younger years was the "go to babysitter." He was a kind and giving, big-hearted, generous person. He planned many activities with them, including fishing, camping, tobogganing, and skiing. One year he organized the construction of a HUGE snowman on the family homestead. Ralph went on numerous fishing adventures with his brothers and nephews, many to Canada. A special memory held by his family was that Ralph lovingly wrapped Christmas gifts with newspaper.
He is survived by his siblings, Sandra (Gene) Meyer of Hibbing, MN, Ben Lang, and Gail (Robert) Snortheim, all of Marshfield, Thomas (Diane) Lang of Chili, Mary Ellen Lang, Rosann (Dale) Machtan, Paul (Darla) Lang, Francis (Debbie) Lang, all of Marshfield, and Celeste (John McLaughlin) Lang of Milton, VT. He is further survived and cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carol Sirko and a grandniece, Scarlett Zorn.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice and Ralph's niece, Sunday, for their loving care.
