Peter Francis Multerer left this world peacefully on the morning of May 11th, 2026. Pete lived, laughed, and loved for 88 years before his passing.

Born December 19, 1937 to Mathilda and Frank Multerer of Lindsey WI., Pete was one of seven children. His living siblings include sister Doreen Fuller of Marshfield, and brothers Don Multerer of Marshfield, and Ken Multerer of Grove City, OH. His departed siblings include sister Bonnie Dunn, and brothers Chester and Erving Multerer.

As a young boy, Pete contributed to his family with farm work and picking beans. At the age of 24, Pete was drafted into the United States Army where he served dutifully for 5 years as a construction specialist in Korea from 1961 to 1966. Upon return home, Pete married his sweetheart, Ruthann Will, of Pittsville in 1968. Ruth and Pete took up residence in Pittsville where they lived faithfully married for 49 cherished years before Ruthann’s passing in 2017. Pete’s love and devotion to “Ruthie” continued until his last day on this earth.

Pete’s career was primarily with Trierweiler Construction where he was a lowboy operator that traveled to sites all throughout Wisconsin and Midwest. Always on time and impeccably dressed for the job, Pete devoted over 25 years there until his retirement. At the same time, and long into his retirement, Pete actively farmed with several of his closest friends in the area. He was well known for his unwaveringly dependable work ethic and bringing some of the best finished steers to market. Pete was never idle and his duties transitioned as reliably as the seasons. Each spring brought Pete’s Redwings to the soil, and with them, countless hours working the ground and supporting each year’s planting. The summers were filled with thousands of miles on the highway helping to build the very roads you’ve traveled on in communities all across the State. Fall’s colors brought Pete’s hands to all manner of the harvest. From tapping trees to make the sweetest syrup, floating berries, shepherding wagons, and working under dim lights late into the night. Winter’s cold was thawed by Pete’s smile, windburned rosy cheeks, the warmth of his cab while hauling snow, and the buzz of his chainsaw. All the while, Pete never lost sight of what also mattered most – supper and evening drives with Ruthie, dedication to his family, and support for his friends. With them all, he shared his passion as an avid sportsman. Pete wetted many a hook, trained and ran many a hound, methodically set many a snare, and religiously sighted many a rifle. Pete held a reverence for the woods and all the critters within, sharing this fondness with family and friends alike.

Pete was a kind and generous soul. Pete was deeply devoted to his community and gave mightily to it. While never a Boy Scout or ball player himself, he supported both programs with substantial donations over many years, even while living modestly himself. For his friends, there was a never a beer he wouldn’t offer (even though he hadn’t partaken himself in decades), a steak he wouldn’t grill, or an oxtail soup or famous chili bowl he wouldn’t share.

For those fortunate enough to have known and worked with Pete closely, we’re blessed with countless stories and time spent alongside him, the shared sore muscles and blackened fingernails, and the warmth of him lending a hand whenever one was needed. For those that didn’t know Pete directly, chances are that you still positively encountered him at some point along the way. As an ever-present member of the Pittsville community, rest assured, his vigilant watch made sure you and yours departed school safely, his patronage supported your business, his wave on the road bid you well, and he and his pickup were always nearby with an attentive eye and care.

Peter Multerer lived a dutiful, prosperous, and full life. He left his positive mark on much and many. Pete was always there - until he wasn’t… He is, and will always be, deeply missed by his community, friends, and family. Thank you, “Uncle Pete”, for all you’ve shared with us all.
