Patrick “Cubby” Minor, 84, of Pittsville, passed away in the early morning of April 13, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 22, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of Mass. Entombment will follow in the parish cemetery. Father Leo Raphael will officiate and Lois Kremer will provide music.
Pat was born on November 10, 1941, in Wisconsin Rapids to Wallace and Opal (Knapp) Minor, the oldest of six children. He was raised in the Town of Cary, where he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsville High School in 1959. On February 23, 1968, he married Marlene Ann Emmerick, and together they shared 58 years of marriage and raised two sons, Brian and Brent.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Heuer Brothers Construction. Pat later worked at Gardner Cranberries during his retirement. He enjoyed working and had a hard time giving it up, continuing as long as he was able before eventually retiring for good. He loved Caterpillar equipment and was noted for being an exceptional operator.
In his youth, he enjoyed playing pool and racing stock cars in Rozellville alongside his brother Nick. Throughout his life, he had many hobbies, including deer hunting, ice fishing, gardening, going for drives, working in the garage, watching Gunsmoke, and coffee clutching with friends. He especially loved to keep the birds of his backyard well-fed and watch them from his window, accompanied by his numerous dog companions across the years, most recently Daisy and Bonnie, who will miss the tasty tidbits he “secretly” fed them.
He was a lifelong Wisconsin sports fan, keeping up with the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers until the very end. Pat never met a stranger, both because he could carry on a conversation with anyone, and because he knew just about everyone. He was a true wordsmith and his stories and conversations will be missed by many.
Pat is survived by his wife, Marlene; son Steven (Karla) Neumann of Kronenwetter; daughter-in-law Paula Minor of Pittsville; grandchildren Patrick and Sara Minor, Aaron (Hannah) Neumann, and Lauryn (Justin) Flink; and great-grandson Hunter. He is also survived by his siblings Susan (Wally) Freund of Marshfield, WI, Kevin Minor of Pittsville, WI, and Terry (Sandy) Minor of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Brent and Brian, sister Gail, brother Nick, sister-in-law Nancy, and nephew Jon Minor.
