Norman J. Lange, Sr. 94 of Auburndale died on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Bethel Center in Arpin. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 25, 2011 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Auburndale with Rev. Mark Lundgren officiating. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Garden Cemetery in the town of Richfield, Wood County with military rites rites conducted by the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield. Visitations will be from 9am Friday until time of the service at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Auburndale. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Norman was born on October 28, 1917 in the town of Milladore, Wood County to Julius and Dehlia (Krecklow) Lange. He attended Brookside School in Milladore. Norman worked on the family farm assisting his family during the Great Depression. He then served in the United States Army during World War II as a cook. He often talked about his travels aboard the Queen Mary during the wartime. On returning home, Norman married Bernice A. Becker and they purchased their homestead in the Auburndale area. There together, they raised their four children and enjoyed the family they created. Normans passions in life were his children and his many trips to Canada fishing. Many cherished memories were created during those travels. Often Dad would take road trips to destinations unknown and unknown to his children too! He loved his time spent with his son Norm, Jr. grouse hunting in northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed his meals out to eat with his daughters. With the arrival of his granddaughter Cassandra, his true total love came out. He adored her and loved her unconditionally. Dad will always be remembered for his from scratch buttermilk pancakes which he enjoyed making for his granddaughter. In his later years in life, his children returned that same love and respect through their unwavering care and devotion to him. We know now he is finally at peace. A special thanks to the staff at Bethel Center, Ministry Home Hospice Care and all who took time to remember Dad in their special way. Norman is survived by his children Norman (Jan) Lange, Jr. of Marshfield, Melody Dearth of Arpin and Tammy (Tom) Bieneck of Auburndale, one granddaughter, Cassandra Bieneck and one sister Leona Anderson of Granton. Besides his parents and wife Bernice, he was preceded in death by a daughter Louise "Dolly" Lange, son in infancy, one brother Harvey Lange and a sister in infancy.
