Obituary

Norman Edward "Smokey" Busche, 92, Stratford, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Rev. Robert Romberg will officiate and Ellen Syring will be organist for congregational singing. Burial will take place in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford and serving as pallbearers will be Justin Meyers, Jessica Kuhn, Kris Kuhn, Elizabeth Garton, Will Garton, and Melissa Busche. The visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Norman was born on February 7, 1920 at home in March Rapids, the son of Henry and Mary (Fermanich) Busche and attended school in March Rapids. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II from September 1943 until his honorable discharge in March of 1946. He was united in marriage to Fay M. Conaway on August 31, 1946 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marshfield. He had worked as a cheese factory laborer and Milk truck driver at Hillside Co-op in March Rapids and later at Marathon Cheese. He was a member of Emmanual Lutheran Church, March Rapids and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6352 of Stratford. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, canning, playing cards, and his children and grandchildren. Norman is survived by his wife, Fay and their children, Duane Busche and Danny (Peggy) Busche, all of Stratford and Bonnie (Mike) Meyers of Marshfield. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Myron Busche of Wausau and a special niece and nephew, Barbara and John Bandow. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Lyle Treankler, Laverne Treankler, Lloyd Treankler, Floyd Treankler, Hazel Treankler, and Edna Busche.
